Jonah - Print
View Sample God told His prophet Jonah to go to Nineveh, a major city in the enemy nation of Assyria, and preach against it. Jonah went, but he sailed in the opposite direction. God sent a wild storm, and only casting Jonah overboard would save the ship. Jonah was swallowed by a fish that God had prepared for him, and he prayed in repentance and faith. The fish deposited him on dry land, God gave a second commission, and Jonah preached against Nineveh. Its people repented, and the city was spared the predicted judgment. Jonah was angry at God’s mercy to his enemies, but God showed him His love for all people. No one, whether a disobedient believer or a cruel pagan, is beyond the love, mercy, and grace of God.
